The steel target can handle anything from .22lr to .45 acp at 25 yards but, as stated in the ad, this is not designed for use with rifles. Took a few rounds of 30-06 at 150 yards but .223 eats right through it. All in all, great value, but don't shoot .223 at it.
Works as described, just make sure you follow the instructions for minimal ranges. No high velocity rifle cartridges either or you'll end up with holes in it. It worked fine at 7 yards with .45 230g FMJ Rounds.
Great product when you follow the guidelines. I trashed my first one with an AK47 BUT STILL ordered 2 more.
So after blowing through the double magnum version of this, this one held up against my 223 at about 150 feet or so up hill. Didn't even dent it after numerous hits! This with steel tipped ammo and hv.
I bought this target specifically for practice for USPSA. It is a great product for shooting with a pistol. I use it at 15 to 30 yards, which makes for a small target area and a very tough shot at speed. I use jacketed bullets, and it has held up perfectly to their battering. I will be buying more.
That said, there is absolutely no reason to believe that this target would stand up to rifle rounds at anything less than 100 yards, and I feel 200 or 300 yards would be a better minimum. Rifle and pistol are completely different energy levels.
This target works great with a 45, 44Mag and 357. A 22L doesn't quite flip it. But it's still fun.
Works well in soil that has no to very little rocks.
Works as advertised. No issues, stands up to the bigger guns just fine.
